All day: Arrivals and hotel check in

Friday, September 24, 2010

9:30 AM: Hotel pick up for optional Everglades Tour

10:00 AM: Arrive at Everglades Tour

Feel the excitement and learn the history of Florida's most remarkable treasure, the Everglades. As one of the rare subtropical ecosystems, the Everglades holds spectacular mysteries. Renew your spirit as you glide across miles of river at speeds up to 35 mph in an airboat, and get up close and personal with native wildlife, many of whom are endangered in this fragile environment. Your tour will be guided by an experienced captain who has received extensive training. During the tour, you'll listen to tales of how the Seminole and panther once coexisted in this lush wilderness.

You'll catch a glimpse of endangered wildlife as you skim across the glassy water. On the tour, feel free to let your spirit soar as you view nature at its finest. Following the airboat tour, you will explore the exhibit areas. See reptile, exotic wildlife and swamp-life up close and in a performance show.

This once in a lifetime adventure will create lasting memories. There will be an additional charge for this tour. The charge will include round trip transportation from the hotel to the Everglades park, the airboat ride, the exhibits and the reptile show. Details on how to confirm your place in this optional tour will be sent to you once your convention registration has been confirmed.

1:15 PM: Return to Hotel

3:00 PM: Shopping excursion to the Sawgrass Mills Mall and/or Ikea

The Sawgrass Mills Mall is not your ordinary local mall; it is world famous! With 2,383,906 square feet (221,472.1 m2) of retail space, it is the sixth largest mall in the United States. Because of its size, Sawgrass Mills is divided into three parts: the mall itself with four "Avenue" sections; the "Oasis", an outdoor component including Regal 23 Cinemas, Ron John Surf Shop, and Nordstrom Rack and the "Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass", which opened in 2006 as an upscale lifestyle area with shops and restaurants, anchored by Last Call! Neiman Marcus, and featuring Kate Spade, Judith Ripka, David Yurman, Coach, Chanel, and other designer Rodeo Drive-type shops. Additionally, there are numerous "outparcel" stores and plazas. The Swedish design store Ikea is located about ½ mile from the mall. Ikea is a destination itself, as famous for the Swedish meatball dinner as for the home decor.

For children, Wannado City is located inside the Mall. Wannado City is an indoor role-playing amusement and the only one of its kind anywhere! Billed as "where kids can do what they wanna do," it is a child-sized representation of a metropolis where children aged 2-14 participate in different careers and other lifelike activities.  Careers in which the "kidizens" can participate include firefighter, police officer, lawyer, TV reporter, and singer. They can use issued money, "Wongas", to set up bank accounts. It is a city like none other!

7:00 PM to whenever: Welcome Party

Meet your fellow collectors for an evening of fun and merriment, buying and selling, reunions and introductions. The room party will be held in a hospitality lounge for guest comfort. There will be plenty of space and seating so come and join us. Your co-hostesses for the evening are Shari Krapp and Pammy J.
